Built for the category buyer too

B2B proof alongside the consumer charm.

Two audiences, one site, opposite needs.

An FMCG or food brand's website is doing two unrelated jobs. Consumers arrive curious - where to buy, what is in it, is it right for me - and judge on brand feel in seconds. Buyers from retailers, wholesalers and foodservice arrive commercially, wanting case configurations, shelf life, certifications, minimum orders and a trade contact who answers.

Sites usually optimise hard for the first and leave the second as a link labelled 'trade enquiries' pointing at a generic form. That is a commercial mistake, because a single listing conversation is worth more than a great deal of consumer traffic, and the buyer assessing you is comparing how easy you look to work with against suppliers who publish everything.

The fix is not a compromise between the two. It is a properly built trade section that a category buyer can use, sitting behind a consumer experience that stays on brand - each audience getting a path built for how they actually buy.

Compliance information is a sales asset.

Food and drink carries genuine regulatory weight: ingredients, allergens, nutrition, provenance and accreditations. Brands tend to treat this as an obligation to satisfy in the smallest possible space. Both audiences treat it as evidence - consumers increasingly read labels closely for allergens and dietary requirements, and trade buyers use certification status as a shortlist filter before anything else.

Presented properly it does real work: structured, searchable, consistent with the pack, and easy to keep current. Presented as a PDF nobody can find, it costs you the customers who needed it and the buyers who were checking.

Consistency matters more here than almost anywhere, because a discrepancy between the site, the pack and a retailer's listing is not just an SEO problem - it is a trust problem with a regulator-shaped edge.

Where to buy is the question you are actually being asked.

For a brand sold through retail rather than direct, the most valuable page is often the least designed one: where to buy. A consumer who has decided they want the product and cannot work out how to get it is a conversion you have already paid for and then dropped.

Handled well it is a stockist finder that is current, works on a phone in a supermarket car park, and is honest about which lines each stockist actually carries. Handled badly it is a static list of retailer logos, which tells a shopper nothing and quietly sends them to a competitor whose site answered.

It doubles as trade proof. A buyer can see who already stocks you and how you present partners, which is a more persuasive credential than anything on the about page.

The playbook

How we build for fmcg & food.

01

Brand standout that survives the shelf

Identity and digital designed together, so the site, packs and socials reinforce one memory. Sqew's site carried its brand hard enough to earn Webby recognition in 2026.

02

Built for the 10-second mobile visit

Most FMCG traffic is a quick phone check: where to buy, what is in it, is it worth it. Pages answer in one screen and load fast on a 4G connection in a shop.

03

Repeat purchase by design

Stockist finders, subscribe-and-save flows and recipe or usage content give buyers a reason to return, measured on repeat sessions rather than vanity reach.

04

Discoverable where people actually ask

Searches and AI questions like 'best X for Y' decide categories now. We structure ingredient, FAQ and comparison content so ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews can cite you.

Relevant work

Fair questions.
